Hiccups are usually safe and stop on their own, except that it might accompany some dangerous diseases. Here are some methods you can use to stop it, except that you must know that it has no guaranteed or effective treatment, but can be stopped using the following methods:

- The person who has hiccups must drink seven sips of water consecutively and must stop breathing for 8 seconds.

- Put some ice on the lower part of the backside of your neck, swallow a small piece of ice or grab the tongue with a tissue and pull it a little bit.

- Put a paper bag on the mouth and nose and hold tightly, and then breathe for a minute or two. This must increase the Carbone dioxide quantity in the lungs and therefore the hiccup must stop.

- Take a deep breath and hold it for the longest possible period of time; this exercise must increase the Carbone dioxide quantity in the lungs too.
